Route 1: From Melville Bay
"Little Reindeer Valley" / Tugtuligssuaq, north of
the settlement Kullorsuaq to the settlement
Nuussuaq.

About 180 km. paddling.
In Upernavik city we
start the expedition by sailing with the boat DUDA LASØ up in
Melville Bay, where the kayaks is unloaded in the
"Little Reindeer Valley" deep inside the Melville
Bay. From there we will go on foot a 1-2 day expedition
to the mainland "Little Reindeer Land" and if the
weather permits, we will go up on or near the
inlandic ice.
We will paddle in kayaks past Knud
Rasmussen, Bjorn Borg and on to the large settlement
Kullorsuaq (about 420 people lives there). Then we cross Wilcox Head of Holms
island and on to Nuussuaq.
During the kayak
expedition there will be opportunities to catch the
northern cod. We will have
time on this expedition for fishing and hiking.
DUDA LASØ will pick us up in Nuussuaq, the last
night in Upernavik district takes place aboard the
ship. Upon arrival to Upernavik we can visit the
museum before departing from Upernavik airport.

Route
2: From Nuussuaq to
Upernavik
See Kipaku, giant polar guillemot bird cliff,
crossing icefjords and dense ice bergs, catch cod
and explore Upernavik ice fjord north side.
Date:
18. july to 1. august 2012.
Distance:
About 230 km. paddling.
Immediately after arrival at Upernavik town, we
travel down to Upernavik harbor and come aboard DUDA
LASØ. The ship sails us to the settlement Nuussuaq,
where we after arrival get equipment and kayaks.
From the settlement
Nuussuaq we paddle so in southerly direction and
along the way we will see the giant bird cliff
Kipaku, icefjords, settlements, hundred of islands
and finally Upernavik town.
We will explore Upernavik ice fjord north side. And
after a visit to the village Aapilattoq we will
paddle to Upernavik. We will visit the museum in
Upernavik the last day.
During the kayak
expedition there will be opportunities to catch the
northern cod.
There will be much
paddling on this expedition, but also upportunities
for shorter hiking trips along the way.

Route
3:
Upernavik Icefjord roundtrip
Date:
1. august to 9. august 2012.
Distance:
About 125 km. paddling.
The kayaking will start
in Upernavik travelling towards Kingitorsuaq and
onwards through the Icefjord towards the village
Aapilattoq before exploring that area and returning
to Upernavik. The kayaking will be adapted, as usual,
according to wind and weather and you will, of
course, be involved in the planning of the
expedition.
The last night is spent
in a house in Upernavik. And we will visit the local
museum.
During the kayak
expedition there will be opportunities to catch the
northern cod.
There will often be much
paddling on this expedition, but also upportunities
for shorter hiking trips along the way.
